Encouragement, Learn to Appreciate

The Day after Father’s Day

The day after Father’s Day

Dads go back to being who they are

Trying to figure out their teenage sons’ choice of music

Or why their wives change their hair color

When they are already well-loved the way they are

They get up in the morning for work

Or line up what they need to get done for the day

And in the evening they stare up into the twinkling

Stars in the sky and hope they can continue

To provide for their families

They day after Father’s Day

Dads are busy with all their duties

Being courageous and strong

Just the way we need them

Heroes they are, day in, day out

And our role models, too

Nothing would be the same

If not for their spirit and guidance

Dads struggle like the rest of us

With how to look or what to say

They have hopes and dreams

All swirling in their heads

They are problem-solvers and creators

The best kind of men there are

We may not be celebrating them today

But our hearts are full of love-

We love who they are and

What they mean to us

Not just once a year

But everyday

To Fathers everywhere,

Happy Day after Father’s Day

  1. Well said Andrea! I spent some time yesterday wondering where the past 19 years of fatherhood have gone and how I could have (and at times probably should have) done things differently. But there are no do-overs in parenthood.
