Easy Front Choke Hold Defenses (A Video Blog)

Friends, as a martial artist, I learn many complicated, difficult defenses to various kinds of grabs.  They are fun to learn and many have several steps that need to be done in order for the defense to even work!  It takes a lot of time and practice to learn those and remember them and do them correctly.

At the other end of the spectrum are defenses that are simple, easy to learn, and effective.  The non-martial artist can learn these as easily as anyone, and they work.

Remember, though, the element of surprise to your attacker is part of the equation.  If you show someone these moves and then try to do it on them, it is possible for them to stop you from being able to do them.

Always use distractions in any defense situation, such as stomping on the opponent’s foot, spitting in his face, kicking in the shin or groin, and yelling.  Distractions give you a split second of time when the attacker may loosen his grip making your escape just a little bit easier.

I hope you never have to use any of these, but if you do, be equipped and be prepared.

Know what you need to do and you will Win at Life.

  1. Cool stuff, Sensei! 🙂 It’s amazing what one can do with just a few little movements that can help them get out of danger.
